What is LUG College Hockey
LUG College Hockey is our Flagship product. LUG College is the natural next step for players coming from organized competitive & recreational minor hockey who still want to play in a league where structure, format, competition, and the real-league feeling matter. This is rec sports on steroids.
Where do we play?
Teams play local games throughout their community. Most leagues play within 30 minutes of campus (some exceptions) with many playing on campus and/or at the premier facility in their community. Winning teams are invited to a regional out-of-town tournament to compete in Regional Championships.
When do we play?
LUG College plays anytime Sundays (12 pm-12 am), Mon-Thu (7 pm-12 am). Special events (Winter Classics, Rivalry Nights, Tournaments) may take place on Friday nights and Saturday anytime.
What Skill Levels are Offered?
We run Rookie, Lower, Mid, Upper, and Women's Divisions. We also have Adult (~21+) leagues. Teams can self select their preferred divisions during registration.
How does Division Realignment Work?
Teams compete in their division during the 1st half of the season to earn their spot in the standings. During the December Break, LUG will realign divisions based on team performance, registration requests, realignment requests, and statistical factors to create balanced divisions. This may include the creation of new divisions, splitting of divisions, or no changes. Each situation is case by case. The goal is to create balanced games for everyone.
How Do I Join?
There are 4 ways to join LUG. 1. Create a Team (become your own GM), 2. Join your Captain's team, 3. Join as a Free Agent and get placed on a team, 4. Join with a small group. We have a 99% placement rate of players onto teams and will do our best to match all players onto teams with their friends. That said, starting a team and recruiting a group to play together is the BEST way to play LUG.
How does the Season Schedule Work?
After registration closes, LUG will work with our arena partners to finalize our ice and create a schedule. We'll do our best to create as much consistency as possible for everyone. We release the schedule in batches (Semester 1, Semester 2). We do not play on holidays, reading weeks, spring breaks, final exams, or major social events such as the Super Bowl, Halloween, St. Pats etc.
