In LUG, you play for something bigger than another game on the schedule. Teams build their own identity, seasons create rivalries and every game moves you closer to playoffs, championships and moments worth remembering. This is a league where showing up actually matters. The little moments with your team in the locker room or on the sideline, the out-of-town tournament you take together, the battle through the game and the laughs along the way. This is rec sports on steroids.

Absolutely. LUG brings together players who share a love of the game. Teammates become friends, teams become communities and the season gives everyone a regular reason to get together during and beyond game night.

Yes. LUG welcomes experienced athletes and newer players. Many programs offer multiple skill divisions, helping players find a competitive level that feels challenging, comfortable and fun.

Registration options vary by sport and city. You may be able to register a full team, join an existing roster or sign up individually as a free agent. View the current leagues to find the best option near you.

Not at all. You don’t need any organized football experience to join. Our Casual division is built for players who want a fun, competitive game while they learn, and the Competitive division is there for anyone looking for a higher level of play.

Games are 7 v 7 with two 22-minute halves, and a certified official runs every game. There’s no tackling: pull the ball carrier’s flag to end the play. Every team gets 8 guaranteed games, including at least 1 playoff game.

Just your team and a pair of running shoes or turf-friendly cleats. LUG provides the flags, flag belts, footballs and kick-off tees, plus your team’s Vapor Lite jerseys.

LUG Flag Football can play indoors, outdoors or both. It varies by location, so check the registration page for your city for complete details. You can also see each city’s setup in the Turf column of the Locations table above.

Our indoor/outdoor leagues start the season indoors in February. In mid to late March, when the weather allows, the program moves outdoors. Some programs only move outside for the playoffs. The move and its timing depend on the weather, and it may change the day you play and the location of your field. We use a variety of domes, days and times to build the best available schedule based on facility availability.
