Things You Need to Know

 What is LUG Sports?
LUG is a sports community built for players who still love competing. More than 25,000 players across 80+ cities join LUG to stay active, meet people and keep playing the sports that have always been part of their lives.
 Who is LUG designed for?
LUG is for players who are not ready to hang them up. Whether you grew up competing or recently discovered the game, LUG gives you a reason to stay active, stay social and keep chasing the feeling that made you love sports in the first place.
 What makes LUG different?
In LUG, you play for something bigger than another game on the schedule. Teams build their own identity, seasons create rivalries and every game moves you closer to playoffs, championships and moments worth remembering. This is a league where showing up actually matters. The little moments with your team in the locker room or on the sideline, the out-of-town tournament you take together, the battle through the game and the laughs along the way. This is rec sports on steroids.
Will I meet people through LUG?
Absolutely. LUG brings together players who share a love of the game. Teammates become friends, teams become communities and the season gives everyone a regular reason to get together during and beyond game night.
Can I join if I’m new to recreational sports?
Yes. LUG welcomes experienced athletes and newer players. Many programs offer multiple skill divisions, helping players find a competitive level that feels challenging, comfortable and fun.
 How do I join?
Registration options vary by sport and city. You may be able to register a full team, join an existing roster or sign up individually as a free agent. View the current leagues to find the best option near you.
Do I need to have played hockey before to play?
Not at all. You don’t need any organized hockey experience to join. Whether you grew up playing or you’re picking up a stick for the first time, LUG Ball Hockey is built for players who want to compete, stay active and have fun with their team.
 How does the season work?
The season runs from November to March. Every team plays 8 regular season games, then at least 2 playoff games, with a certified ref at every game. Full stats track every goal and assist.
 Where are games played?
LUG Ball Hockey is played indoors only, in gyms in select cities. Cities aren’t set yet, so join the waitlist to request a league in yours.
 What’s included?
Your team gets workout tees as jerseys, plus men’s shorts and an apparel pack with SPEEDSHADES, caps and more. Certified refs run every game and full stats are tracked all season.
 What equipment do I need?
Players need a helmet, gloves and a stick. Helmets are required, and shin pads are recommended. Goalies bring their own full goalie gear.
 Do we need a goalie?
Yes. Every team needs a goalie, and teams are responsible for bringing their own. Your goalie brings their own full goalie gear.
