What's New in LUG College Hockey for 2026-27

Trades are officially part of LUG

For the first time, teams will be able to make official roster trades during the LUG season.

There will be a formal Trade Deadline, giving teams a window to make roster moves before things lock in for the stretch run.

Maybe your team needs a goalie. Maybe somebody's looking for more ice. Maybe your captain has been trying to move a guy since October.

Now there is actually a way to do it.

The All-Star Game is back — and harder to make

The City Series All-Star Game returns for 2026-27, but the format is getting tighter.

This year, there will be one All-Star team per men's market and one All-Star team per women's market.

That's it.

No second squad. No extra roster. You either make it or you don't.

The goal is to make an All-Star selection feel like what it should feel like: something you actually had to earn over the course of the season.

 

The bigger game nights are coming back

Some games deserve to feel bigger than a normal Tuesday night.

Rivalry Nights and Winter Classics are returning this season, with plans to bring them to as many LUG markets as possible.

The idea is simple: take matchups that already matter and build a little more around them.

Different setting. More people at the rink. More content. More reason for the group chat to start chirping three days early.

U.S. champions are getting a shot at Canada

The WAG Cup is getting a little more international.

For 2026-27, select U.S. league champions will have regional opportunities to head north and compete in the Canadian WAG Cup.

That means American champions can earn the chance to cross the border and play against Canadian teams for a championship.

It's a new layer to the postseason and a new reason for U.S. teams to keep the season going after winning their local league.

Division champions get rings

Winning your division now comes with something you can actually keep.

For the first time, every player on a division championship team will receive a championship ring.

Not just the WAG Cup winner.

Win your division and every player on the roster gets hardware.

The jersey board is way deeper

This year's Jersey Draft will have 60+ jersey styles, the biggest selection we've offered.

The lineup includes several different collections and influences.

• Crossover Series
• Vintage Series
• Classic Series
• Defunct Series
• Elite Series

Some pull from classic hockey looks. Some take influence from retired teams. Some cross over into football and other sports. Some are just built to look clean when your whole team steps onto the ice.

There are more ways to build a team identity than we've had before.

And because there are going to be some jerseys teams absolutely fight over, the draft order matters.

 Teams draft in the order they sign up, and you need 14/15+ players registered before the draft to hold your position.
