LUG All-Star Series 2023

Back for another year, the lug all-star series gives the washed up another chance at glory

All LUG players are beauties, but some come out just ahead of the rest. Whether it's being stellar on the ice, or a great lad or lady in the locker room, we like to take some time out of every season to give these individuals a time to shine.

We are excited to announce that LUG will be throwing its annual All-Star Games starting January 21st onwards. Each Division will be hosting their own LUG All-Star Game, where LUG’s top performers on and off the ice will come together to show off their skills.

For another year we will be partnering with Pride Tape and You Can Play Charity to bring more attention to inclusivity in the Game of Hockey.. Pride Tape will be helping us share the love of hockey and sports while we campaign for better diversity, inclusivity, and equality in sports.

LUG ALL-STAR WEEK, PRESENTED BY PRIDE TAPE & YOU CAN PLAY

LUG is not just another rec league, but a community of athletes that love the game so much they treat it like the pros.

What we do on the ice, whether you’re a player, coach, or fan, will reverberate into who we are in the community.

We will kick things off with the LUG All-Star Games as we strive for better inclusivity, accessibility, and change in the world of sports.

HOW TO NOMINATE A PLAYER

If you, or someone you know deserves the title of LUG All-Star you can nominate them HERE!

NOMINATE A PLAYER HERE!

  • A LUG “All-Star” does NOT have to be the “best” player on the team. They could be a great teammate, an ultimate bench personality, or just overall deserve to be considered a LUG All-Star!

  • Unlimited nominations. The more nominations, the better the case for being named to the ASG...

  • LUG has final discretion for the official roster. Not all nominations guarantee participation.

LUG X PRIDE DETAILS

  • Pride Tape will be made available for players to use during the game. We encourage players to use the tape for the ASG and any other time you want.

  • We encourage players to make a post on their social media featuring their Pride Tape.

  • We encourage players to tell a personal story regarding inclusivity in sport using #HockeyIsForEveryone

Though the All-Star games are on for a limited time, LUG has been working all-year to make LUG more inclusive for all and truly embodying the "Hockey is For Everyone" message within all our sports and business practices. We are currently working with You Can Play to develop the most adequate training for LUG players and commissioners that they can then take with them after the leave LUG.

TELL YOUR STORY

As we make our effort to further the conversation regarding inclusivity in sport, we want to take this opportunity to hear your own personal stories and experiences.

The goal of these stories is to showcase what the current or pervious states of inclusive sporting environments is or has been, and what can be done as we move forward to make sports a more inclusive space for individuals all over the world.

SUBMIT YOUR STORY

Whether you would like to have your story shared online for people to read, or if you just want to tell someone about your experiences, we encourage you to be open and submit your story.

These stories remain completely anonymous unless otherwise indicated. LUG will not pose your story online unless otherwise indicated.

ALL-STAR ROSTERS

All the All Star Rosters will be announced on LUG Instagram and in the team Captains chats. Stay tuned!

About You Can Play

The You Can Play Project works to ensure the safety and inclusion for all who participate in sports, including LGBTQ+ athletes, coaches and fans. This is achieved by creating a community of allies that is able to foster a true sense of belonging.

This becomes possible when sports teams sharpen the focus on the person’s skills, work ethic, and competitive spirit, not their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. You Can Play seeks to challenge the culture of locker rooms and spectator areas by developing a culture of respect, in every player, coach and fan.
