Jobs - BDR Intern

JOIN OUR TEAM: BDR Intern

For many years, the only option for student athletes to continue playing sports while at college was to play for their school's varsity or club teams or join a poorly organized and over policed rec league. LUG was created to provide a better way for student athletes to play casual or competitive sports while at university and college. LUG is filled with friends from across campuses, multiple skill levels, a strong sports community, and a focus on having good times with your teammates.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a hungry, self-directed university or college student to join LUG Sports as a Business Development Representative (BDR) Intern. This is a true BDR role focused entirely on lead generation and top-of-funnel pipeline building for our sales team - a high-volume, execution-focused role for someone who's competitive, resourceful, and ready to do real sales work from day one.

ABOUT THE ROLE

LUG has grown from a small 6 team hockey league into one of the largest adult sports leagues in North America, with over 25,000 players across 70+ cities. In this role, you'll build and grow LUG's social presence in target markets, identify and source league commissioners, and execute outreach to book discovery calls for our account executives and BDRs.

This isn't a coffee-run internship. You'll work directly alongside our sales team, get real feedback on your output, and come out of the term with hands-on experience in B2B sales fundamentals, social selling and digital community building, CRM systems and sales data management (Zoho), market research and prospect segmentation, outreach strategy and messaging, and sales performance tracking — with a clear line of sight to what full-time BDR performance looks like at a growing company.

We're a remote-first team and output is more important than facetime, so where you choose to work is up to you — as long as you have internet access, you can work from wherever helps you be successful. Note that league games typically take place on evenings and weekends, so this is not a standard 9-to-5: working-day requirements may shift based on the leagues running and the season.

We hire co-ops & interns year-round: we accept students for Winter, Fall, and Summer terms, with 4-, 8-, and 12-month placements available.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and grow local Instagram accounts in target and pre-target markets by following relevant users in specific cities to drive organic follower growth
  • Research and identify recreational league commissioners across active and prospective markets
  • Execute cold DM outreach to scouting commissioner candidates to book discovery calls with our account executives and BDRs
  • Monitor new followers to identify warm leads and flag high-potential accounts for BDR DM outreach
  • Log contacts, outreach activity, and lead status in Zoho CRM
  • Track follower growth, outreach volume, and meetings booked by market and report results to the sales team

ABOUT YOU

  • Currently enrolled in a university or college program - open to all co-op terms (Winter, Fall, Summer) and placement lengths (4, 8, or 12 months)
  • Highly organized and self-directed - comfortable managing high-volume repetitive tasks without losing quality
  • Competitive by nature - you want to hit your numbers and you want to know how you stack up
  • Familiar with Instagram and social platforms as tools, not just as a user
  • Experience in sales, marketing, or community organizing is a plus, but not required

PERKS & BENEFITS

  • $19/hour, 35 hours/week
  • Fast track to Full Time opportunities with LUG HQ
  • Real operational ownership in a fast-growing sports organization - not a coffee-run internship
  • Free participation in LUG Sports Leagues during the work term
  • Free LUG merchandise, partner products, and access to special events
